Yelp Trend Tracker

Based on millions of daily consumer interactions, Yelp is at the center of the cultural conversation and can track emerging trends across hundreds of categories, whether it’s new dishes on the menu or ways to spruce up your home.

December 2024

This special edition Trend Tracker highlights our top trend predictions for 2025 from our annual Trend Forecast across food, home, and beauty.

In beauty and lifestyle, Yelpers are seeking out grown-up getaways and booking celeb-level glam with salmon sperm facials. In dining, mushroom-infused drinks are on the menu and it’s not a party without a burnaway cake. Plus, for the home, the ‘70s are back with a reimagined modern flair and Yelp users are turning cherished memories into art.

To identify trends, Yelp analyzed the change in consumer searches, comparing September 2023 through August 2024 vs. the 12 months prior.

Grown-up getaways

Who says camps are just for kids? Adults are increasingly seeking out getaways for relaxation, healing, and making connections. We predict searches for adult camps, which blend childhood nostalgia with grown-up perks, will continue to see a surge in 2025 travel plans.

Mushrooms on the menu

Mushroom drinks are emerging on menus across the country. Seattle’s Wunderground Coffee infuses adaptogenic mushrooms into its local blends and Phoenix’s Press Coffee expanded its menu to offer mushroom-infused shakes as an alternative to traditional coffee drinks.

The ‘70s reimagined

The ‘70s are making a comeback in our homes with a modern day flare. One standout is the conversation pit, a hallmark of ‘70s design that incorporates a sunken living area with built-in seating. The infamous avocado bathroom is also back, with modern refinements such as tiling in nuanced shades and modern fixtures.

Framed scrapbooks

Your next art piece for the gallery wall is probably in your memory box. In 2025, Yelp users will be turning their most cherished memories into art pieces, using shadowboxes to display film photos, along with travel mementos, and keepsakes from special occasions.

Salmon sperm facials

Achieving glass-like skin has been a major focus of the skincare industry for some time. We expect Yelp users to book their celeb-level treatments in 2025–from the salmon sperm facial, which involves injecting polynucleotides from salmon sperm into the skin, to Skinvive, the first hyaluronic acid-based injectable of its kind.
