Summer Home &
Outdoor Trends
2025
Yelp released its 2025 Summer Home & Outdoor Trends, revealing how homeowners are transforming their spaces this season.
Despite today's housing hurdles, including a tough home market, rising material costs, and potential tariff impacts—savvy homeowners are tapping Yelp's service professionals to create their dream spaces without breaking the bank. To uncover these trends, Yelp’s data science team analyzed millions of searches and project requests from our community, with tips from Yelp Trend Expert Tara Lewis on how to bring them to life.
This year, it’s all about restoring character, homestead-inspired living, sleep sanctuaries, in-home experience spaces, and weather-proof upgrades. Whether it’s creating a home theater, building a chicken coop, or refinishing well-loved surfaces, people are maximizing value and vibes.

Character comeback
Search Increases
“Millennial gray” is out and bold design is back. Searches show Yelp users are bringing unique charm into their homes, with mosaic tile, stained glass, and statement wallpaper on the rise. Instead of replacing, they’re choosing to restore features by uncovering hardwood, reviving fireplaces, and refinishing with style.

Homestead core
Search Increases
From hens to herbs, Yelp users are turning to self-sufficient food sources that double as quaint outdoor escapes. With searches for live chickens, garden statues, and plant nurseries up, people are creating spaces that embrace a slower, more sustainable way of living.

Methodology
To identify trending search terms, Yelp analyzed the change in consumer searches from January through March 2024 compared to January through March 2025. To compare the change in volume of a specific search query, we evaluated the number of times per million searches the query was entered.
For trending project requests, we analyzed the change in user Request a Quote project requests from 2023 to 2024.
